Real animals.
Real Texas ranch.

A family homestead near Cisco, Texas, where the animals have always been part of the family.

Our Story

How we got roped in

Sean and Jess have been together since 2014, and animals have been part of the story from the start. Sean grew up spending summers riding along with his dad, and Jess brought home a shelf full of awards from years of trail riding competitions.

Horses and dogs have been part of our life together from day one. Then came three rescue goats, and that’s when things really took off. One goat, turkey, chicken and pig at a time, it grew into the working 15-acre homestead we call Roped In Ranch.

Our goal is to be as self-sustaining as we can and to do as much as possible ourselves. Our kids have grown up with these animals as part of their everyday lives, and to them, every one of these critters is family.

Meet the Crew

The ones who really run the place

Every animal in our coloring books is a real member of this crew. Here are a few of the regulars.

Wilson, a big white guardian dog, grinning up at the camera

Wilson

Head of Security

Our alpha livestock guardian, leader of the pack, and the best dog we’ve ever had. Nothing gets past Wilson.

Dixie, a German Shepherd, lounging in a stock-tank water trough

Dixie

Work Crew & Hot Tub Enthusiast

Our German Shepherd and Sean’s right hand on every job around the property. She learned from Sadie, and now she’s training our newest pup, Red.

Fred the turkey in full strut in front of the red barn

Fred

The Foreman

Follows Sean everywhere and supervises every project. He has never once approved of how we did anything.

Ocho, a horned buck with a long beard, standing by the red barn

Ocho

The Original G.O.A.T.

Our buck, complete with the horns, the beard and the ice-blue stare. He knows exactly how handsome he is.

Ammo, a bay horse, and Winnie, a buckskin, trotting together

Ammo, Tipsy & Winnie

The Horse Herd

Ammo is Jess’s trail competition horse and the boss of the herd. Tipsy is our palomino, and Winnie, her buckskin daughter, is the youngest and has opinions about everything.

New arrivals

Nine new kids on the ranch!

We welcomed a whole crop of baby goats around Halloween 2026, and they’ve already discovered that the barn beams make excellent stages.

Names coming soon. Follow along on Facebook. We may need your help naming a few of them.

Ranch Legends

Gone, never forgotten

Some of the animals who made this place what it is.

Sadie, a German Shepherd, resting in a water trough

Sadie

Smart, loyal and a great teacher. Sadie trained Dixie, and Dixie is now passing those same lessons on to Red. Part of Sadie’s teaching was knowing when to take it easy.

George, a rooster with copper and green feathers

George

A friendly rooster who made it his job to follow Dad around the property.

Mischa, a boxer, sitting in the living room

Mischa

Our boxer, who lived to the grand old age of 13.
